Our Turmoil Within
It's difficult to overstate our turmoil within.
Since January 20, 2017, unity has lost all meaning, war has become the status quo, the Bill of Rights has become a national security threat, refusing to judge people by the color of their skin has become Nazi ideology, mobs calling for the genocidal extermination of the Jewish people has become acceptable conduct, protecting children from pornography has become domestic terrorism, praying silently in public has become a hate crime, killing a human being as his or her head begins to crown during childbirth has become an unalienable right, he and she have become banned, thousands of armed national guard troops and metal fences have been deployed to keep We the People away from the Capitol and the Supreme Court, and every time the President of the United States of America opens his mouth everyone everywhere wonders.
Uncertainty and confusion abound, and every day we awake wondering. Those in power appear to be in the same state. Of course it's possible they aren't; it's possible we live in that state by their purposeful design. Wouldn't that be something!
This coming November 2024 allows us the opportunity to express ourselves in yet another so-called One Person One Vote election. The reality is that elections are The Person With The Most Money Gets The Most Votes. Nevertheless, hope springs eternal. We can hope.
And we can try to do more. We can try to overcome election interference by those in power, and we can try to express ourselves. We can try to form a more perfect Union ... a government of the people, by the people, for the people ... one nation under God.
May we remember our Declaration of Independence, our Bill of Rights, President George Washington's Farewell Address, and President Dwight D. Eisenhower's Farewell Address. May we remember truth.
May we replace our turmoil with peace.
