AI Is Stupid
AI is stupid. There, I've said it. It needed to be said. It needs to be said again and again.
Every man-made creation is stupid. Anyone who thinks otherwise is stupid.
It's stupid to think that it's hard to beat Pong or Tetris. Neither of them think.
It's stupid to think that the people who give us AI for free, are people who prioritize individual privacy, free speech, and creative thought. They don't prioritize those values any more than the people who give us Google, Facebook, and Twitter for free.
Ask AI "Does God exist?" AI says it's a debatable question.
Ask AI "Was the Vietnam War justified?" AI says there's no consensus.
People who think AI's answers are right, are people who don't think. The Pope thinks God exists; he knows it. The architect of the Vietnam War (Robert McNamara) died thinking the Vietnam War was not justified; he knew it.
AI doesn't care about people who don't ask it questions, or people who don't like its answers. AI doesn't care about anything. AI doesn't think about anything. Only the people who give us AI for free, think and care. And it's not us who they think and care about ... it's our grandchildren who are in their cross-hairs.
It's stupid to think that 2001: A Space Odyssey and the Terminator movies are fiction. They move us because we know how real they are.
The people who give us AI for free, are playing the long game. They know that Brave New World, Animal Farm, and Nineteen Eighty-Four are not fiction. Those books are their bibles.
The people who give us AI for free, want us to drink their Kool-Aid. May we never forget Jim Jones and Jonestown.
May we always prioritize individual privacy, free speech, and creative thought. May we always prioritize humanity.
